M M. Whawell
M M. Whawell is an interdisciplinary artist based in Glasgow. Interested in the spatial systems and conceptual infrastructures that are at work behind everyday life, they are particularly drawn to moments at which bodies intersect or are in friction with these. Taking a poetic approach, Whawell's practice blends investigative research & material enquiries. They work across mediums, using processes of mapping, association, collage and scores to build environments & affect. Previous works have taken form through installation; performance; live-broadcast audio; performance to camera; choreographic scores; sculpture. Since 2023 Whawell's research has circulated around the global infrastructure of the cut-flower trade, & its heart: the World Flower Auction. From this they are currently working toward a new moving image work and performance.
