creative cargo

Initiated in 2012, Creative Cargo was a mobile engagement programme based around the geography of the Forth & Clyde Canal. Creative Cargo was a barge, a floating sculpture studio that travelled along the canal delivering outreach engagement workshops for communities as well as inviting local groups to take over the space and share their usual social setting within the context of the canal.

From the locks at Maryhill to where it meets the Clyde at Bowling, the canal cuts across Glasgow, flowing past high rise and bungalow, meadow and urban sprawl, graveyard and abandoned factory. As our first engagement delivered from our new home on the canal, Creative Cargo enabled us to build and develop relationships with our local communities and collectively explore the heritage of the Forth and Clyde canal.
