Through moving image, sound, sculpture and painting, Maria Blom seeks to question the ideas, beliefs and expectations behind what can be considered a final piece in the artist’s studio. Whether the process of making can function as a work in itself. She is interested in working from a place of doubt, highlighting moments of uncertainty that are present within the artistic practice and making of work in the studio.
Maria Blom lives and works in Glasgow. She graduated from the MFA programme at Glasgow School of Art in 2017. She is currently working on her first solo show in Scotland, Tiny Pieces Coming Together, at Glasgow Project Room. Her work has previously been part of the Premier Plans, 29th European First Film Festival and the Creation University Festival at Angers Museum of Fine Arts in 2017.
