Annalise Wimmer

Annalise Wimmer’s practice is driven by finding sources of unease and tension that lie within the ever so smaller margins between the natural and artificial. She is particularly interested in materials and objects that conjure up intimacies between biological bodies and their man-made analogues within an architectural framework. These in turn usually manifest themselves as parasitic co-dependencies that can physically alter and corrupt a surrounding space or mimic a given setting. This mutual interdependence plays off of her wider interest in affluent obsessions with sanitised spaces and the parallels that one can draw between individual/societal health and physical infrastructure(s).

Annalise Wimmer (b.1986) is a Norwegian visual artist based in Glasgow. She initially studied animation at Edinburgh College of Art before completing a Masters of Letters in Fine Art Practice at GSA in 2016.
