Glasgow Sculpture Studios now offer a number of opportunities for local and international artists to undertake Self-funded Project Residencies. These residencies are short-term for up to one month, dependent upon availability.

These new residency opportunities will run alongside our International curated and funded Production & Research Residencies.

GSS provides a resource not available at any other organisation in Glasgow, or the West of Scotland, where  artists have varied and ideal opportunities for creating work in metal, stone, wood and ceramics, as well as plaster and resin. Through self funded residencies artists can take advantage of these unique facilities and of staff expertise.

Self-funded Project Residencies are designed to provide artists of all levels an opportunity to develop their work in a creative and supportive environment, at the same time facilitating cultural exchange and dialogue.

Self-funded Project Residencies can take place throughout the year, applications are reviewed and selected on a rolling basis and are welcome at any time. Artists undertaking Self-funded Project Residencies must be Artist Members in order to qualify for the subsidised rates GSS offer.

Related costs

How to apply

Applicants must complete a Full Membership Application form, this is a requirement for all artists who access the facilities at GSS. A Self-Funded Residency Proposal Form should also be submitted along side this.

Applicants are advised to send in their applications and a residency proposal as soon as possible to ensure the availability of the studio and at least 4 weeks in advance of the start date.

The decision of the selection committee is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome of selections following notification. You are encouraged to contact the organisation to discuss any aspect of your proposal before submission.
