How much is a GSS Membership?
Full Membership (studio holders) £50 annually
Full Membership (non-studio holders) £90 annually
Associate Membership £40 annually
Who can access the Production Facilities?
You must be a GSS member to access the Production Facilities although specific arrangements can be made for educational groups. We are unable to provide one-to-one technical assistance during opening hours although Technician’s are on duty assist for basic assistance.
Do I have to do a Building Induction?
YES, all users must complete a Building Induction to gain access to the building, fire safety and means of escape, housekeeping and security.
How do I book a Building Induction?
Once your membership has been processed and/or access has been granted, Building Inductions can be booked with a member of staff at reception. These are available once a week, so please ensure prior booking is made so that access is available when required.
Do I have to do a Production Facility Induction if I am a first time user?
YES, an equipment induction, health & safety briefing and signed acceptance of the Workshop User Regulations are required before starting working independently in the Production Facilities.
How do I book a Production Facility Induction?
Once your membership has been processed and/or access has been granted, Inductions can be booked with a member of staff at reception. Inductions are available once a month, so please ensure prior booking is made so that access is available when required.
If you require a refresher and/or you need some practice then we recommend the following:
- One-to-one training by prior arrangement with the Production Facilities Manager although (rates will vary).
- Courses (please see the courses page) these cover a variety of skill based processes.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should be worn for e.g. welding helmets, gloves, ear protectors and goggles. Under no circumstances should flip-flops or open-toed shoes be worn. We also recommend that either boiler suits, overalls or general work clothes are worn. PPE can be bought at reception however please check for availability before buying.
What type of membership is best for me?
If you work conceptually and do not require access to the Production Facilities, an Associate Membership would be best.
If you work practically and do require access to the Production Facilities, a Full Membership would be best.

I am a first time user what do I need to know?
Once all your Inductions are in place and you wish to gain access to the Production Facilities you must follow the necessary steps to ensure your booking is made:
- Contact a member of staff at reception to book a bay
- Confirm start and end date (minimum 1 day – maximum 3 months)
- Complete payment via card, cash or cheque made payable to Glasgow Sculpture Studios
- Sign into your bay, on each day of your booking within the Production Facilities
