Tinja Ruusuvuori is a visual artist working across a broad range of media including heavy materials, ready-made objects, photography and moving image to produce detailed sculptural installations. In her practice she looks for unexpected connections and failures of logic. She tends to find humor in giving a mundane thing a far-fetched and exaggerated meaning. With the combination of sculpture and moving image she seeks for surfaces on which the mind’s reality and the material world meet.
Tinja Ruusuvuori (born in Finland) lives and works in Glasgow. She holds a Master of Letters in Fine Art Practice from the Glasgow School of Art and a Bachelor of Documentary Film Directing from Aalto University, Helsinki. Ruusuvuori has undertaken residencies at the Cité International des Arts, Paris, and at the Hospitalfield, Scotland, while her films have been screened at festivals such as Visions du Réel, Toronto Hot Docs and Tampere Film Festival.
