Tinja Ruusuvuori is a visual artist working across a broad range of media including heavy materials, ready-made objects, photography and moving image to produce detailed sculptural installations. In her practice she looks for unexpected connections and failures of logic. She tends to find humor in giving a mundane thing a far-fetched and exaggerated meaning. With the combination of sculpture and moving image she seeks for surfaces on which the mind’s reality and the material world meet.
Tinja Ruusuvuori (born in Finland) lives and works in Glasgow. She holds a Master of Letters in Fine Art Practice from the Glasgow School of Art and a Bachelor of Documentary Film Directing from Aalto University, Helsinki. She has undertaken residencies at the Cite International des Arts, Paris, and at the Hospitalfield, Scotland. Her films have been screened in various film festivals in Europe and Asia. Ruusuvuori is a part of the Fling, an artist led project that connects Masters graduates in fine art and curatorial practice in Glasgow and London.
