The Whisky Bond / Glasgow Sculpture Studios / Area of The Forth & Clyde Canal 

On the 22nd July, Saturday, The Forth & Clyde Canal between Applecross Basin and Speirs Wharf will spring to life between 11am and 5pm with street theatre, a street food village, canoe taster sessions, guided cycle tours, craft workshop, heritage and wildlife tours, live music and a behind the scenes look inside local landmarks.

The Whisky Bond and Glasgow Sculpture Studios are hosting a series of free workshops and activities for all ages as part of the Canal Festival:


Sculpture Club

For Children (Ages 3+)

11am – 3pm

Sculpture Club is a free multi-disciplinary workshop for children aged 3-12 years old. We welcome children and their families to have fun learn various sculpture-making processes, discover new materials, play, socialise and learn about creative processes with Glasgow Sculpture Studio artists Sally Hackett and Lauren Gault .

This session is delivered by practicing artists who are experienced workshop facilitators

Den & Sanctuary

Family activity

12pm – 2pm

Build sanctuaries for animals, plants and people with a den building workshop with artist Jennifer Argo, leading all ages in the design and build of their own structures. The workshop will hone skills in design, drawing, sculpture and basic structural building concepts, utilising recycled wood from the Glasgow Sculpture Studios workshop.

Hand-Casting workshop

11.30am  – 12.30pm

1pm – 2pm

Glasgow Sculpture Studios ceramic workshop

Join artist Alys Owens in the GSS ceramic studio to learn more about basic plaster casting processes. Alys will take participants through the steps of making a plaster-cast of their hands.

Free but limited spaces available so booking required to avoid disappointment. Alternatively spaces will be given on first come first served basis.
