For Families and Children (Ages 3+)

10am – 3pm Glasgow Sculpture Studios Social Space
Mass Sculpture Club
Join us for a large-scale multi-disciplinary workshop for children aged 3-14 in Glasgow Sculpture Studios’ social space; handle different materials, be creative, socialise, and learn about our exhibition ‘Making the Bed, Laying the Table’ by Katie Schwab. Make sculpture by exploring different methods of construction and working as a group to make decisions and come up with ideas.

12 – 5 pm Glasgow Sculpture Studios Play Area
Den & Sanctuary
Build sanctuaries for animals, plants and people with a den building workshop with artist Jennifer Argo, leading all ages in the design and build of their own structures. The workshop will hone skills in design, drawing, sculpture and basic structural building concepts, utilising recycled wood from the Glasgow Sculpture Studios workshop.

12 – 5pm Glasgow Sculpture Studios Community Garden
Wild Workshop
Choose from different materials and create special habitats for the wildlife in your garden including bird feeders and bug hotels with artist Kate V Robertson. Make something you can take home, place somewhere outdoors and learn about what animals live around you and how you can benefit them.

2:30-4pm Glasgow Sculpture Studios Assembly Space
Linocut Workshop with Mobile Print Studio
In this two-hour workshop you can try your hand at Linocut Printing. Carve your own design or use a selection of our pre-made stamps to create a print of your design.

10am – 4pm Glasgow Sculpture Studios Wood Workshop
Going with the Grain with Craig Thomson & Ben Whitney
Working with green (freshly felled) wood, this day course aims to teach some of the rudiments of green wood construction, including the process of ‘scribing’ – a traditional technique which allows irregularly shaped pieces of wood to be accurately joined without the use of computer models or complicated geometry.
Price: £70 per person, all materials and tools needed are included in the price.

Exhibition Preview
Fellowship Exhibition by Katie Schwab: Making the Bed, Laying the Table
Developed throughout Katie Schwab’s one-year fellowship at GSS, the exhibition takes its title from a new collection of works developed by Florence Dwyer, Katie Schwab and Simon Worthington addressing ideas of collective making and communal living. The exhibition also includes a new video work by Schwab and Ed Emery, a text by Rosanna McLaughlin and a screening event in July organised by Jamie George.
