When two or more are together
Lauren Gault and Lauren Printy Currie
Glasgow Sculpture Studios Social Space
Saturday 7 September, from 5pm
Glasgow Sculpture Studios is pleased to present the Glasgow launch of artist’s Lauren Gault and Lauren Printy Currie’s collaborative publication When two or more are together.
This spring, Gault and Printy Currie invited members of Spike Associates, Spike Island to undertake a project exploring the nature of artistic collaboration. The project aimed to investigate the idea of the artist as single creator of a work and question the approaches to collaborative practice. Drawing on links between individual studio practices and collaborative responses, the artists questioned how one practice could meaningfully inform another within a framed enquiry, and in turn addressed their key question: when does meaning inhabit collaboration?
The results of this long distance dialogue are presented in When two or more are together, a collection of individually authored works and assemblages investigating the nature of collaboration. In the same way that the artists collate physical works, When two or more are together combines discursive events and exchanges with visualisations of moments in the making process.
The launch will be accompanied by a screening of Lauren Gault’s new film, Granular and Crumb, with excerpts from the Spike Island Pecha Kucha presentation.
When two or more are together was generously funded by Creative Scotland and Arts Trust Scotland.
